It seems to me that, for One who claims to understand international affairs far better than his predecessor, Our Lord and Master doesn’t seem to know much about international affairs. Take, for example, His constant harping on infrastructure construction as a way to stimulate the economy.
Don’t misunderstand me. I’m in favor of infrastructure projects. I’m an unemployed civil engineer and I’m no fool; I want the business. I just don’t think that they’re a good way to get us out of our economic woes.
The problem with using infrastructure projects as a way to boost unemployment is that it is, at best, a short term solution. Once the project is over, it’s over and the people employed by it are once more out of a job. At worst, it’s a long term solution that makes the employed dependant upon the government for employment and the government dependant upon high spending to keep the employees employed.
Look at Japan. In the eighties, Tokyo did exactly what The Master is proposing to do now. It didn’t work out for them. Hell, look at our own country. The Great Depression was lengthened by big government infrastructure projects.
For such a high-ranking member of The Elite, Our Lord and Master doesn’t seem to have a good grasp on history.
